This approach is based on a series of design and construction principles and practices that seek to balance the need to construct functional and comfortable buildings with the aim of minimizing the use of natural resources.
Sustainable buildings not only reduce environmental impact, but can also lead to improved comfort and quality of life for occupants, as well as potentially reducing long-term operating costs.
