New Unified Municipal Headquarters of L'Aquila

The masterplan of the area is organized with the municipal service activities located and confined to the northwest section, while the southeast area is completely open and permeable, featuring a public park that extends parallel to the city walls.

The new volumes are designed to be very compact, with a minimal footprint on the ground, to maximize permeable surfaces dedicated to “functional” green areas. The public park, created with native vegetation, aims to reduce the heat island effect, provide shade, mitigate traffic noise, and improve the local microclimate.
